I. Teflon is divided into four types: PTFE, FEP, PFA and ETFE. These four types are described in detail below.

1. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)

Ordinary PTFE pipes are white and opaque, and mainly include catheters, hoses, pipe lining pipes, braided reinforced pipes, etc. PTFE pipe has excellent high and low temperature resistance and excellent chemical resistance, can transport liquid or gas at temperatures up to 260 ° C, and has high chemical purity, which is most suitable for a wide range of continuous operating temperature requirements. The excellent electrical properties of PTFE tubes also make them the most suitable materials in the fields of electronics and electrical engineering, mainly used for electrical insulating sheaths, chemical transportation, heat exchangers, medical urinary catheters and surgical vascular bypass.

2. Tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkoxy vinyl ether copolymer (PFA)

The physical properties, electrical properties and chemical properties of PFA are similar to those of polytetrafluoroethylene, and it is a copolymer of a small amount of perfluoropropyl perfluorovinyl and polytetrafluoroethylene. The melt adhesion is enhanced, the melt viscosity is reduced, and the performance is unchanged compared with PTFE. This resin can be directly processed into products by ordinary thermoplastic molding methods. The long-term use temperature is -80--260 degrees, with excellent chemical corrosion resistance, corrosion resistance to all chemicals, the lowest friction coefficient among plastics, and good electrical properties, and its electrical insulation is not affected by temperature.

3. Perfluoroethylene propylene copolymer (FEP)

The full name of FEP is Fluorinated ethylene propylene, which is translated into fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer (perfluoroethylene propylene copolymer). English trade name: Teflon. FEP is a class of chemical substances. FEP is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. The melting point of FEP crystal is 304°C, and the density is 2.15g/CC (gram/cubic centimeter).

FEP can be applied to soft plastics, and its tensile strength, wear resistance, and creep resistance are lower than many engineering plastics. It is chemically inert and has a low dielectric constant over a wide temperature and frequency range.

4. Ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer (ETFE)

ETFE: English full name: ethylene-tetra-fluoro-ethylene, ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer is a chemical substance, ETFE is the toughest fluoroplastic, it maintains the good heat resistance, chemical resistance and At the same time of electrical insulation performance, radiation resistance and mechanical properties are greatly improved, and the tensile strength can reach 50MPa, which is close to 2 times that of PTFE.

II. The application field of Teflon material

1. Teflon material can be formed by pushing or extrusion; used in high-temperature wires, it can also be made into a film and then cut into shaft-mounted PTFE tapes for the production of high-frequency cables, which can be directly made into water dispersions , it can be used for coating, impregnating or making fibers.

2. Teflon materials are widely used in atomic energy, national defense, aerospace, electronics, electrical, chemical industry, machinery, instruments, meters, construction, textile, metal surface treatment, pharmaceutical, medical, food, metallurgical smelting and other industries as corrosion-resistant materials, insulating materials, anti-stick coatings, etc., making it an irreplaceable product.

3. Teflon material has excellent comprehensive properties, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, non-stick, self-lubricating, excellent dielectric properties, and low friction coefficient. Used as engineering plastics, it can be made into PTFE pipes, rods, belts, plates, films, etc. It is generally used in corrosion-resistant pipelines, containers, pumps, valves, and radar, high-frequency communication equipment, and radio equipment with high performance requirements.

4. Teflon maintains other excellent properties of PTFE. Coating on the surface of the bullet warhead can increase the penetration of the bullet, so that the bullet can shoot through the body armor.

5. Due to its excellent chemical resistance, the Teflon tube can ensure that the joint part is protected in the machine for transferring non-adhesive liquids. Secondly, it can also protect the sensor and make the metal ball non-adhesive. In high temperature conditions, the performance plays a role in protecting the medicine, and the outer sheath material of the optical fiber in the computer is generally a Teflon tube.

6. At the same time, Teflon material has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, and its friction coefficient is extremely low, so it can be used for lubrication, and it has also become an ideal coating for the inner layer of non-stick pans and water pipes.
