Specification for Component Insertion and Placement

What should SMT surface mount processing factories pay attention to when producing SMT circuit board surface mount inserts? Below, SysPCB will take you to understand the relevant precautions:

1. Before insertion and placement, each operator of SMT processing company should ensure the 5S of their own workstation and surrounding areas. The main tasks are:

If there are any loose materials left by the machine or other loose materials at this workstation, the material list and operation manual should be prepared; The operator should collect and hand it over to the relevant material handler, elongation or production manager on duty. The material handler, elongation or production manager on duty should classify, organize and label the above-mentioned items submitted, and distinguish them from online materials.

2. During SMT processing of surface mount assembly, the operators at each workstation should conduct self inspection of the work instructions and material conditions at their respective workstations. The specific job is:

1) Has the homework instruction book been reviewed and officially issued through textual control, and is it unclear.
2) Whether the material names/specifications on the homework instruction book are consistent with the actual product, whether the point markings on the homework instruction book are consistent with the installation (insertion) points, and whether the SMT DIP material forming meets the point requirements and process standards. If there are any abnormalities, they should be reported in a timely manner, and the production manager should handle them properly in conjunction with the quality department, materials department, and engineering department.

3) All types of materials and work instructions should be neatly placed in designated locations and clearly labeled. There should be good isolation measures between various materials. DIP materials can only be mass-produced after being confirmed by IPQC or elongation and first piece insertion (pasting) by IPQC.

4) When adding materials, they must be verified by at least two people (usually the operator and the material handler) before production can begin.

5) If the operator discovers any abnormalities during the SMT surface mount production process, such as the point they want to insert (paste) being occupied by other materials, abnormal PCBA and Flip BoardWipe Board etc., they should immediately report to the on duty elongation or production person in charge. The elongation or production person in charge should designate a dedicated person to handle and inspect the handling results, and then submit them to IPQC for key confirmation.

6) Horizontal components generally require board insertion, neat arrangement, and a width consistent with the span of the welding hole, with an error of ≤± 0.5mm; Vertical components should generally have their body perpendicular to the PCB and be mounted on the board. The height of the top bent part of resistors, diodes, etc. is generally about 1.5-2mm, and the bent part should be neat, continuous, and smooth; Special attention should be paid to whether the direction of directional components is correct; Prevent flying feet and kneeling feet from occurring.
