PCB buyers have doubt in PCB color, sometimes they do not know which color is better for PCB board. Today we will explain the influence of color for PCB performance.

First of all, PCB(printed circuit board) is the main provider of interconnection between electronic components. Color doesn't directly affect the electrical performance. Customers don't need consider that the black PCB better than the green PCB.

PCB color

PCB board performance good or bad is related to design, layers and other factors determined by the materials used (like TG, Er, Ed etc.). However, in the process of washing PCB, black is the most likely to cause color deviation in the PCB factory. This will result in PCB color defect rate increases, which will increase production costs.

PCBs made with different inks

In the black color PCB, traces illegible will increase, difficulty in research and development and after-sales service. Without skilled RD design and maintenance team of powerful brand, it is not easy choose black PCB. It can be said a black PCB design is a confident performance of RD and maintenance team, also a reflection of PCB manufacturers' technique strength.

For these reasons, major electronics manufacturers carefully select color according to PCB version of the design. When the market is formed with large shipments of most products, their PCBs are red, green or blue version, only to see some high-end black product with black soldermask in flagship product.
