IPC-9121-PCB manufacturing process troubleshooting On May 25, 2016, IPC released the IPC-9121 standard titled "PCB Manufacturing Process Troubleshooting," a critical guide for PCB manufacturing and procurement professionals. This standard addresses up to 650 types of defects in the PCB manufacturing process, providing cause analysis and corrective actions. It also includes hundreds of full-color images to illustrate each defect. The IPC-9121 standard covers various stages of PCB production, such as imaging, solder resist coating, drilling, surface treatment, etching, and production panel layout, offering solutions to common defects encountered during these processes. By helping process engineers quickly identify and resolve defects, the standard enables cost savings and improves production efficiency, ensuring that PCB manufacturers can meet acceptable quality standards. Chris Jorgenson, IPC's director of technology transfer, highlights the value of IPC-9121 as an essential resource for PCB manufacturing engineers.
